OUR MINISTRIES

Friendship Missionary Baptist Church is a small group of Christians seeking new members who will participate in all ministries.  We need volunteers for all but the Sunday School Ministry.

Prayer

Find healing. . ."Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." James 5:16  Prayer counselling is where members of the body of Christ assist other members to come into freedom from the sin and sickness in their lives, by going together to Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit.

The early church understood God's intent for them to work in cooperation with Him through prayer and so they devoted themselves to prayer along with other vital ministries (Acts 2:42). As a result of this kind of life together, "The Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved" (Acts 2:47). What might God do in our midst if we took serious His command to be devoted to prayer? Having an effective prayer ministry begins with you knowing God and results in His power at work both in and through you.

Emphasize the following purposes and watch the difference it makes in your prayer ministry:

  1. Use prayer as a means of keeping focused on God.

  2. Use prayer as a means of acknowledging His grace in your life.

  3. Use prayer as a means of keeping His sovereignty in place in your life.

  4. Use prayer as a means of maintaining your relationship with God.

Elders / Seniors

Many need affirmation of their value not only to others, but also to God. We want them to know Jesus as a familiar Friend by the time He comes to get them. This kind of relationship comes from a life of worship and service. Senior years are fertile ground for God to demonstrate His strength, as less of self can mean more of God. Our ministry gives opportunities to step out of comfort zones to see God is present and ready to do through us what we cannot do on our own.

We need an elderly ministry to stay in touch with those that are sick, in nursing homes or simply unable to attend regular church services.

Youth

When youth frequently engage the Gospel, challenge their spiritual lives, and are shown the adventure of discipleship through the Church they can begin to commit themselves totally to Jesus Christ in concrete ways.

Music

We are seeking a Music Ministry which offers a broad spectrum of African-American sacred music, including hymns, traditional and contemporary gospel, choral anthems, arranged choral spirituals, and praise & worship songs. We aim to provide a means for spiritual growth for those who sing and endeavor to guide the congregation into the presence of the Lord.

Music encourages the saved and unsaved through lifting up the praises of God by singing music supported by Scripture and led by the Holy Spirit.

Community service

Our mission is to serve as a resource for FMBC and friends of the church who want to increase the church imprint on a local and regional level.  The group activities include Bible studies, prayer conference calls, social outings, fundraising, and service projects by

  • Dispensing emergency food

  • Providing transportation services

Sunday school

Brother Anthony Smith is our Sunday School Superintendant. He is energetic and well informed. Not a dull moment is found in his classes.

It is our goal that a consistent encounter with God through the study of his Word will lead many participants out of the class into ministry. Many children and students who grow up in a healthy Sunday school will heed God's call to missions and ministry. All members will feel compelled to find their place of service within the existing class or externally as God sends them.
